This scene is linked to the particular devotion to Saint Martha and Saint Margaret. The cult of relics was highly developed in the Middle Ages to make requests to the saints.
Saint Martha with a halo, wearing a dress with sculpted vertical ridges. Saint Martha is supposed to have been able to incapacitate her adversary with a sign of the cross or by sprinkling holy water on it, which explains the gesture she is making with her right arm. She then held it on a leash with her belt, which seems to be represented by the wavy ribbon held in her left hand.
The Tarasque is a hairy monster with a long tail, very large hind limbs, arms that end in hands, and a human head.
A huge winged dragon (inscription DRAGO) with strong claws, a powerful tail, and long ears.
Saint Margaret with a halo (inscription SANCTA MARGARIDA) rejected the advances of Olibrius, the governor of Antioch. She was thrown into a bottomless pit, where she was devoured by a dragon. She is supposed to have escaped from the body of the dragon by cutting it open with a cross.
