Nîmes, in the present day. The amphitheater, which is almost two thousand years old, is in need of restoration. Hugo Vandret, a historic monuments architect, has been put in charge of managing the restoration project. He has an appointment with the historian Marie-Noëlle de Choisy for a private visit of the monument.
